Joburg transport MMC Kenny Kunene says Metrobus will soon start using a cashless system from next month. 
MMC Kunene says the new fleet and all other buses will be fitted with the latest technology.

Kunene says they are introducing the automated fare collection system.

He says the project aims to curb theft and collusion between drivers and commuters.

The MMC says they’re also procuring forty new buses for Metrobus.

“The new fleet and all other buses will be fitted with the latest technology. The digital strategy includes, the eye on the buses which will enable the commuters to track their buses in real time.

“We have appointed inspectors that are now going to also assist with the inspection of buses. So, metrobus will now be able to generate more revenue.

“The buses will be fitted with wi-fi machines which will grant passengers to free internet.”
