This vehicle was reported hijacked from the Mtanami informal settlement, located in Orange Farm.

The arrest follows actions taken by the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department’s Tactical Response Unit (TRU) after receiving crucial information from Tracker.

The data provided the GPS coordinates of a vehicle, indicating that it was traveling on Doornkuil Farm, located on the Golden Highway in De Deur.

JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla said, “The officers responded swiftly to the location and successfully intercepted the vehicle, which had two male occupants inside.

“A search of the vehicle and suspects was conducted, during which a black and gray 9-mm firearm with a filed-off serial number and an empty magazine were recovered.”

Both suspects were apprehended and held at the De Deur South African Police Service (SAPS).

Additionally, the vehicle and firearm that were retrieved have been officially recorded at the De Deur SAPS.
