Law enforcement agencies conducted roadblocks in Ratanda, Sedibeng District, on Thursday, leading to the arrest of 35 undocumented individuals for violations of the Immigration Act.

One individual was arrested for drug possession, leading to their detention. Traffic officials imposed fines on 44 individuals, totaling R26,650.00, due to various road traffic violations.
Furthermore, inspections and compliance checks were conducted at multiple business locations to ensure adherence to traffic regulations.
In addition, four liquor outlets faced closure due to violations of liquor regulations, highlighting enforcement actions aimed at upholding compliance within the community.
These operations exemplify the proactive measures taken to enforce immigration regulations in the area, highlighting the agencies’ dedication to maintaining legal standards related to immigration.
The integrated service delivery operation in Gauteng was led by Premier Panyaza Lesufi, supported by Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, Major General Kekana, and Yolanda Faro of the Tshwane Metropolitan Traffic Department.
According to the agencies, the multidisciplinary operation involved a wide array of departments and stakeholders from the Gauteng provincial government.
Key participants included e-government, human settlements, roads and transport, the South African Police Service (SAPS), cooperative governance and traditional affairs (COGTA), economic development, and public safety.
Joint venture looking into violations
Additionally, all metro police departments (TMPD, EMPD, and JMPD) were engaged, alongside the Gauteng traffic police and various local traffic police departments.
Other involved entities included the Department of Health, Department of Home Affairs, Community Policing Forums (CPFs), Department of Education, South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), and departments related to environment, social development, agriculture, and infrastructure development.
“The Gauteng Liquor Board, in conjunction with various private security companies, contributed significantly to a collaborative operation aimed at enhancing public safety.

“This initiative focused on strengthening law enforcement visibility and improving service delivery to the community, thereby addressing concerns related to public security and quality of service.
“The partnership between these entities underscores the importance of multi-agency collaboration in effectively tackling community safety issues,” the agency said.
