Lifeless body discovered in an open field in Lakeside

The community of Lakeside extension 5, south of Johannesburg are still reeling with shock following the discovery of a lifeless body in an open veld on Friday.

According to reports, the deceased body was found dumped in an open veld known as Spokong.

Orange Farm police spokesperson Sergeant Shaan Motsapi confirmed the death of an unnamed 11-year-old girl.

“The deceased sustained some bruises around her neck as if she was strangled. A murder case has been opened – the motive behind this heinous act remains unknown at this stage, and no arrests have been made,” he said.

Sgt Motsapi appealed to the community or anyone with relevant information which can lead to the arrest of the suspect/s to contact their nearest police station.

Meanwhile, a suspect is set to appear in court for alleged murder of his elder brother in Senwabarwana, Polokwane.

This following his arrest after he allegedly stabbed and killed his elder brother in the early hours of Sunday at Normandy village.

According to police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, preliminary reports indicate that the brothers returned home from the local liquor outlet at about 01:00.

“A fight broke out between the two and the suspect allegedly took out a knife and stabbed his brother. The 48-year-old victim was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

“Police opened a case of murder and the suspect was arrested at his residence. The suspect, who is between the age of 25 and 30 will appear before Senwabarwana Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday,” he added.

Police investigations continue.
