DStv Premiership side Moroka Swallows have parted ways with head coach Steve Komphela following several discussions between both parties.
The Dube Birds took to social media on Monday to announce the decision which it said was on amicable terms.
The troubled Soweto-based outfit has been marred by controversy following the axing of twenty-two players after they boycotted matches against log-leaders Mamelodi Sundowns and Golden Arrows in December last year over non-payment of salaries.
Premier Soccer League Disciplinary committee slapped Swallows with a R1 million hefty fine and forfeited six crucial points for failing to honour the two fixtures.
The club pleaded guilty and avoided suspension with R600,000 of the fine being suspended for 24 months, contingent on good behavior.
During the resumption of the league’s second round from an Africa Cup of Nations break, a number of familiar face notably Ntsikelelo Nyauza and six others showed up at the camp as new acquisitions.
Revolving door at Swallows
A change in the coaching department saw Musa Nyatama tasked with holding the fort while the 56-year-old was a no-show and left in the loop.
Swallows said it was ultimately agreed that it would be in the best of both the club and coach Steve to separate at this stage.
“There remains a mutual respect between both parties and the decision to separate is one both parties have welcomed.
“The club wishes coach Steve all the best in his future endeavours and we are grateful for the contributions he has made to the club,” the statement read.

Swallows lost 1-0 to Polokwane City over the weekend at Dobsonville stadium, their next encounter is away to Platinum City Rovers on Saturday at Isak Steyl stadium in Vanderbijlpark for the Nedbank Cup.
According to soccer publication KickOff, Komphela is set for a return to Golden Arrows, aiming to rectify their recent string of defeats.
