The body of a murder victim was discovered partially submerged in a river in Emona, KwaZulu-Natal on Friday.

According to Reaction Unit South Africa(RUSA), a member of the public discovered a pool of blood while traversing a bridge.
Upon further investigation he noticed a body partially submerged in the river approximately fifty metres downstream.
“The passerby reported the discovery to the RUSA Tongaat Operations Centre before midday.
“Our Officers from Tongaat and Ballito were immediately dispatched to locate the scene situated in an isolated area off Noodsburg Road.

“On arrival, officers discovered a bloodied piece of wood on the bridge and a pair of Zulu traditional sandals in the river.
“The deceased was lying in a prone position in the river. He was dressed in a blue sleeveless shirt and blue shorts.

“His pants were pulled down around his thighs. His identity has not been established.
“Residents who converged at the scene confirmed that no person from the surrounding area has been reported missing,” RUSA said.
The motive for the murder is unknown at this stage.
