Two individuals were trapped inside a vehicle, while five others sustained serious injuries following a collision involving a super-link mechanical horse and trailer.

The incident occurred when the vehicle turned onto Vincent Dickenson Road in Canelands, KwaZulu-Natal, colliding with two Toyota Hilux bakkies and a minibus taxi.
According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), emergency responders, including officers and paramedics, arrived at the scene of a multi-vehicle accident at 17:29.
This response followed the reception of twenty-one emergency calls recorded by their headquarters on Friday afternoon.
“The truck loaded with two trailers of cornflakes then veered off the road down a steep embankment, crushing and trapping a bakkie partially under the heavy motor vehicle.Â

“Reaction officers took approximately thirty minutes to free two people entrapped inside the vehicle. They were eventually extricated and stabilised by paramedics. Five people were seriously injured,” said RUSA. Â

The Ethekweni Fire Department, along with the Metro Police and various ambulance services, provided assistance at the incident scene.
Additionally, reaction officers are stationed nearby to deter any potential looting of the truck involved.
