Molosankwe was reportedly shot and killed at his residence located in Lomanyaneng village, near Mahikeng. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday when he was confronted by unidentified individuals who subsequently fired upon him.

The incident has deeply distressed the Mahikeng community and has left the family of the affected individual in a state of devastation, emphasizing the emotional and social impact of the event.

Molosankwe, a prominent community activist, was known for addressing a wide range of social issues, including service delivery challenges, political matters, and allegations of corruption.

He utilized his considerable following on social media platforms to draw attention to the various problems affecting Mahikeng, effectively amplifying the voices of those impacted by these challenges.

Mayibuye spokesperson Sydney Baloyi said Molosankwe played a positive role in raising the concerns of the people of Mafikeng.

The movement’s condemnation highlights the ongoing issues of political violence and the risks faced by activists in the region, reinforcing calls for justice and accountability in the wake of such tragedies.

“He spoke loudly when others were silent, and he put the struggles of ordinary people on the agenda. He was human, and like all of us, he was not perfect. But he did not deserve to be killed in this brutal way.

“Protectors of communities must be preserved and not murdered. Activists who stand up for the poor and challenge power should be engaged, debated, and contested politically and not silenced with violence.

“As the Afrika Mayibuye Movement, we did not agree with all of Thato’s political views. Nevertheless, disagreement is not a death sentence. He deserved to be engaged, not killed,” he expressed.

Baloyi called on law enforcement agencies to trace and arrest those who committed this barbaric crime without delay.

He added, “If this killing goes unpunished, it sends a message that any voice speaking for the people can be taken out. That must not happen to anyone else in South Africa; otherwise, it creates a climate of acceptance for a banana republic where differences are resolved through violence.”
