Moroka Swallows Football Club players have gone on strike and reportedly refused to train on Tuesday and do pre-match camp over unpaid salaries.
The Premier Soccer League announced that the Dube Birds are unable to honour their DStv Premiership fixtures against Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday night at Loftus Versfeld stadium in Pretoria and Golden Arrows on Saturday.
“On behalf of Moroka Swallows FC, an apology is extended to all affected parties due to the cancellation of the following games against Mamelodi Sundowns FC and Golden Arrows FC.
“Due to an unresolved dispute between players and management; that has resulted in management having t request cancellation of the two remaining games of this year from the PSL, to allow it time to correct the situation.

“Management would like to assure everyone within and outside the club that the process of finding one another will soon be found. It has been resolved that no further details will be officially given until an update from the club is issued,” the statement read.
According to The Citizen, Coach Steve Komphela has admitted Moroka Swallows’ players did not train for ten days leading up to Friday’s 2-1 DStv Premiership loss at home to SuperSport United, because the players went on strike over unpaid wages.
Moroka Swallows possible charge
After the match, however, it emerged that Komphela had to leave a voice note for his players, telling them they had to play.
Swallows are likely to be charged and could face a major points fine or even expulsion from the league.
The PSL rules say that club that is unable to fulfil its obligations may have its membership of the league cancelled.
