Sirino joins Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the acquisition of Gaston Sirino on a free transfer ahead of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season.

The 33-year-old Uruguayan signed a two-year deal after spending six years at Mamelodi Sundowns.

Sirino who arrived at the Chloorkop-based outfit in 2018 during coach Pitso Mosimane’s tenure was released by the reigning champion having played 202 games, scored 41 goals with assists and 12 trophies, which include seven consecutive Premier Soccer League titles.

In a statement released on Saturday, the Club Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr. said they have decided to add some experience in the team by bringing in Sirino.

“We know his quality and we believe he will help us this coming season and looking forward to him sharing his experience with our younger players.”

Sirino to add an extra dimension of creativity

“Gaston’s ability to unlock a tight defence with his guile and craft will add an extra dimension to the team’s creativity and his attributes fit with our idea of how we want to play,” Motaung Jr. added.

Meanwhile, Amakhosi have added another player to their squad with defender Bongani Sam joining the team from Orlando Pirates.

The Glamour Boys have secured the 26-year-old left-back/winger on a three-year contract, with a one-year option for renewal.

The Qqeberha-born player spent last season on loan with Moroka Swallows, before going back to his former team at the end of the loan deal.
