Sibanye stillwater employee made his first appearance at the Westonaria magistrates’ court on Monday in connection with the fatal stabbing of his colleague.

The 43-year-old Boinelelo Lefefa, is facing a charge of premeditated murder.
According to Phindi Mjonondwane, the national prosecuting authority’s regional spokesperson, the accused worked together with the deceased at the mine.
“On Thursday, the accused came to the Leseding hostel looking for the deceased. Lefefa saw the deceased at the nearby spaza shop, he approached him and allegedly brutally attacked him with a knife.

“The accused stabbed the deceased several times, cut open his stomach and tried to cut off his head. The security personnel at the mine did not intervene as they were not armed.
“Lefefa proceeded to take his cellphone and took photos and made videos posing with the deceased,” she explained.

Mjonondwane added that the accused committed this heinous crime in broad daylight, with onlookers who captured the incident, and the pictures and videos were circulated on social media.
She continued; “The accused handed over the knife to the police and is currently in custody, while the case has been postponed to Monday, November 20, for legal representation and formal bail application.”
