Woman arrested for falsely accusing police of rape
A woman from Kwazakhele in Gqeberha was arrested on Sunday morning for falsely accusing two police officials of raping her.

This comes after she falsely accused police of raping her following a complaint attended by members at a house in Kwazakhele.

It is alleged that on Friday evening, the woman’s boyfriend phoned police after an argument emanated between the two while they were drinking with friends.

Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu said the rowdy and intoxicated woman was taken away by police and dropped off at her home.

“The woman then walked back to her boyfriend’s house, alleging that the two attending police officials raped her. She was taken to the crisis centre at the hospital and a case of rape was opened.

“During the investigation, it emerged that the woman had fabricated her allegation to teach her boyfriend a lesson hence cases were opened against her.

“She was arrested on Sunday morning, and will appear in the New Brighton magistrate court on Monday.

Nelson Mandela Bay district commissioner, Major General Vuyisile Ncata has cautioned that such allegations not only divert resources but also damage the credibility and reputation of law enforcement.

She emphasised, “The opening of false cases is a criminal offence, and those found guilty will face legal consequences. We will thoroughly investigate such cases, ensuring that justice is served and deterring others from making baseless accusations. False reports impact on crime statistics and creates an inaccurate account of crime”.

“The body was found with a stab wound on the upper body in a Toyota Land Cruiser vehicle next to the road with lights on. The victim was certified dead by emergency medical services personnel.
