This comes after the court was notified that Sobressa Bosman, had passed on while in the holding cells at the Hartswater police station.

According to the national prosecuting authority’s regional spokesperson Mojalefa Senokoatsane, the 27-year-old accused who was to make a formal bail application was facing a charge of murder.

“The prosecution was going to oppose this bail application. Bosman was accused of stabbing Faith Davids his 29-year-old pregnant girlfriend to death, Senokoatsane revealed.

He added, “On November 25, at around 3.30am in the morning, the deceased was with a cousin at their home allegedly from a local tavern.

“The accused shortly joined them, and an argument ensued. The parties started to fight, and the accused stabbed his girlfriend several times.

“The victim was taken to the hospital where she was declared dead. The matter was reported to the police and the accused was arrested.”

Senokoatsane stated that the accused passed on while investigations led by the South African Police Service were continuing in this matter.

He further said the matter will now be closed as the accused has passed on before the investigations were concluded.

Meanwhile, a 52-year-old man is expected to appear in the Bloemhof magistrates’ court, for fraud and theft on Tuesday.

At the time of his arrest, police spokesperson Colonel Adéle Myburgh said Baart van Vuuren was wanted, after the the court issued a warrant for his arrest after he failed to attend court and finally fled to the United States of America.

“Van Vuuren was employed by Omnia Group to sell fertiliser on behalf of the company to farmers in the Bloemhof area.

“Reports suggest that between 2021 and 2022, he stole fertiliser from the company and sold it to his friends and customers, who were not in the company’s database. He then pocketed the money.

“It was only discovered after an audit that the company suffered a loss of R20 million, due to the conduct of the accused. As a result, he was arrested and charged with 108 counts of fraud and theft, she stated.

Myburgh further added that the law caught up with the accused on Wednesday, November 29 , at the Namibian border post.

She continued, “He was taken to Bloemhof and appeared before the magistrates’ court on Friday, December 1. The accused was remanded in custody until his next court appearance today.”
