Zimbabwean gospel musician and Joyous Celebration member, Eric Moyo has passed away.

The 41-year-old singer who was the first Idols East Africa winner, collapsed and died while performing in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape.
Moyo first rose to prominence as part of Zimbabwe’s talent search show, A-Academy in 2006, were he finished in the top 3.
He joined Joyous Celebration in 2014 after being scouted for several years by the popular choir’s co-founder, Lindelani Mkhize.
In a statement, the renowned musical group said as a tenor singer, Eric brought joy to many through his electric performances and unique songs and as a snazzy dresser of note, his stage presence was unmatched.
“His untimely passing will leave a deep void in the Joyous Family. His legacy will leave through his music, which touched the hearts of many and made a significant contribution to the gospel music genre.
“While we mourn his passing, let us celebrate his life and the impact he had on those around him. Eric Moyo may no longer be with us, but his spirit will live through the beautiful music he created. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family and friends during this difficult time,” a statement read.
Meanwhile, Sunday World reports that the aggrieved family of the late afro-soul chanteuse Zahara has opened an inquest docket at the Roodepoort police station after suspecting foul play.
The 36-year-old songstress (real name Bulelwa Mkutukana) died at Olievedale Netcare hospital in Randburg, north of Joburg on December 11.
Gauteng police spokesperson Mavela Masondo confirmed that an inquest docket has been opened for investigation.

“We can confirm that an inquest docket has been registered for investigation,” he said.
Zahara will be laid to rest at her home town of Phumlani in the Eastern Cape on Saturday.
