Suspect arrested, three stolen vehicles seized during operation

A 41-year-old suspect was arrested and three suspected stolen vehicles seized during a multidisciplinary operation conducted in Jouberton Township outside Klerksdorp on Friday.

North West police spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone revealed that the team collaborated to recover stolen three Toyota Etios vehicles.

He said preliminary investigations established that the cars were stolen in Alberton and Hartbeespoort dam between March 2021 and October 2023.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Klerksdorp magistrates’ court on Monday, for possession of suspected stolen goods.

In a separate incident, five Mozambican foreign nationals arrested in Brits on Thursday afternoon for possession of suspected stolen motor vehicles.

Brig Mokgwabone said on arrival at the identified address, the police found the suspects stripping parts from the red Mazda CX5.

“The car was circulated together with a Mahindra and a motorbike, which were also found at the place, and they all tested positive. The Mazda was linked with car hijacking case reported in Mmakau last month.

“The suspects were apprehended after members received and operationalised information about suspected stolen motor vehicle,” he added.

The suspects; four males and a female, are expected to appear in the Brits magistrates’ court on Monday, for possession of suspected stolen goods.

Meanwhile, the provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena has lauded everyone involved in both operations for the successes.
