Police in Gauteng have arrested a 44-year-old suspect following the discovery of a cloned police vehicle on a property in Walkerville, south of Johannesburg.

An intelligence driven operation led to the recovery of a cloned marked Volkswagen Golf with police registration number plates and police call signs, spokesperson Colonel Noxolo Kweza confirmed.
She added that that a white VW Polo fitted with blue lights and sirens, one stolen R5 rifle and police reflector jackets and several SAPS number plates of the items discovered.
According to Col. Kweza, the suspect may be linked to robberies in Gauteng.
“Police believe that these vehicles were utilised during truck hijackings and courier vehicle robberies.
“The suspect is expected to appear in court soon while further arrests are possible as the investigation continues,” she stated.
Meanwhile, an 80-year-old attorney, was granted R50 000 bail for trust fund millions theft in the Palm Ridge specialised commercial crimes court on Monday.
The Hawks spokesperson Captain Lloyd Ramovha said the accused, Solomon Slom, is facing charges of misappropriating R39 million from a trust fund.
“He was an attorney attached to Fluxman attorneys where he was mandated to administer a client’s account, which had about R45 million.
“An internal audit by his business partner revealed that he stole an amount of R39 million in over 140 transactions.

“These were distributed into his own personal bank accounts during the period from 2019 January to January 2024. Following the discovery, the accused tendered his resignation with immediate effect.
“The matter has been postponed to Thursday, September 12, for disclosure of copies of the docket,” Cpt. Ramovha explained.
