Mahlatsi Moropo is oozing with confidence and shining bright following his nomination for Best Newcomer at the prestigious Royalty Soapie Awards.

The exceptionally talented actor who has captured the hearts of South Africans with his captivating portrayal of Letetswe on Skeem Saam.

He has been nominated in the same category with fellow actress Lethabo Mekoa (who portray the role of Ntswaki) and Nefisa Mkhabela (Onalerona on House of Zwide).

The awards ceremony will take place this coming weekend at Heartfelt Arena in Pretoria. 

“Mahlatsi’s nomination is a testament to his hard work, commitment, and unwavering dedication to his craft,” says industry insiders.

“He has brought a fresh perspective to the soapie industry, and his talent has not gone unnoticed.

“His ability to convey complex emotions, bring depth to his characters, and connect with audiences on a personal level has set him apart as a standout performer.”

Moropo’s journey to stardom began in Limpopo, where he grew up with an insatiable passion for acting. 

“I always knew I wanted to be an actor and used to act out scenes from my favorite TV shows with my friends and family, and I was determined to make a career out of it.

“I would watch movies and TV shows, analyzing the performances, and knew that I wanted to be able to move audiences the way my favorite actors did,” he said.

Under the guidance of the late Mahuma Paul Rapetsoa, Moropo honed his craft through theatre acting with Mahuma Group (Pty) Ltd and Get Down Productions.

This experience equipped him with the necessary exposure, audience flair, technical skills, and industry know-how, preparing him for his breakout role on Skeem Saam.

Moropo expressed gratitude to Mahuma Paul Rapetsoa whom he said saw something in him that he didn’t even see in himself.

“He believed in me, pushed me to be my best, and taught me the value of hard work and perseverance. I owe a great deal of my success to him, and I hope to make him proud.
