AZAPO leadership visited the site of the billboard and confirmed that the billboard was indeed
vandalised
.

“It is not clear at the moment who is behind the vandalism,” said party spokesperson Jabu Rakwena

He added; “However, we suspect that it is part of the intolerance that is being demonstrated by political parties that want to establish a hegemony over certain areas and refuse to allow space for other parties to operate.

“We have already reported this matter to the IEC and have also laid a charge of malicious damage to property with the SAPS.

“AZAPO is one of the three liberation movements that is well grounded throughout the country. We
have a strong presence in most of the provinces throughout the country.”

Rakwena remarked that they indeed are surprised that there is intolerance of Black parties and yet not the same amount of intolerance is demonstrated towards white political parties.

“The IEC have not as yet responded to our filing of the complaint. As soon as we receive further
information and leads from the police, we will update the public.” he concluded.
