One of the suspects linked to incidents of attacks on paramedics is expected to appear before the Pretoria central court on Thursday.

Emergency crew was hijacked, kidnapped and robbed while on duty in Pretoria.

The suspect is linked to a recent incident in Nellmapius in Mamelodi where an ambulance was hijacked and emergency personnel robbed of their personal and work belongings and kidnapped.

The following day another crew was hijacked and robbed of their belonging and working tools at Brazzaville in Atteridgeville. 

Nomantu Nkomo-Lehoko, Gauteng Health MEC and Wellness lamented at the recent attacks on healthcare workers and called for other arrests.

“In recent times, healthcare workers have found themselves under attack when doing their work in communities leading to an outcry and a call for the law enforcement agencies to act swiftly in bringing perpetrators to book.

“We welcome this positive development and hope that it will lead to other arrests as this suspect was not working alone. We will be calling for the harshest sentence on this case,” she remarked.
