One dead, two critically injured as vehicle crash against barriers

One adult male driver has instantly lost his life, while two passengers are critically injured following a vehicle crash at the R24 east-bound Gillooly’s interchange, Bedfordview.

It is alleged the motor vehicle crashed against the barriers and rolled several times before landing on its roof.

Bedfordview fire and rescue team says they attended to the call on Saturday morning and swiftly responded to the scene for intervention. 

“On arrival, the unresponsive driver was lying outside the wreckage and two of his passengers were rescued from the vehicle. They were medically treated by paramedics before transportation to the nearest hospital.

“One lane of the two is temporarily closed for traffic to allow investigation to take place.

“The scene is under the management of EMPD traffic officers”.
