The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Gauteng have expressed their approval of the recent appointment of Fighter Nombuso Njokwe as the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC).

She will be in charge of public safety, sports, arts, and culture within the Sedibeng district municipality.
The appointment follows the announcement of new mayoral committee members by Mayor Lerato Maloka after a special council sitting on Tuesday.
According to the municipality, the recent reshuffle of the mayoral committee addresses several existing vacancies, ensuring that all key service delivery areas remain capacitated and focused.
This change reflects the executive mayor’s dedication to maintaining efficient and continuous service delivery throughout the district, the municipality said in a statement.
The EFF in the province said this appointment signifies a strategic move towards enhancing public safety and promoting cultural and sporting activities in the region under Njokwe’s leadership.
“The inclusion of the EFF in government signals a shift towards stable governance aimed at service delivery, moving away from fragile coalitions.
“This appointment is a significant milestone for the EFF, which has shown its reliability in governance since early 2023, operating at an executive level across all regions in Gauteng and expanding its provincial influence,” Nkululeko Dunga, provincial chairperson, stated.
Dunga emphasised that the EFF is now a credible movement capable of forming stable administrations, moving beyond being a “government in waiting.”
He added, “The people of Sedibeng, particularly in Emfuleni, have endured persistent service delivery failures. Our participation will amplify the voice of the people in both the executive and legislative arms of government in the region.
Confidence in Njokwe’s deployment
“The EFF has full confidence in the deployment of Fighter Njokwe, a current member of the Provincial Command Team and a former member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature.
