The EFF in Gauteng has lashed out at premier Panyaza Lesufi‘s partnership announcement with brewer and termed it hypocrisy and promotion of alcoholism.
This comes after the Lesufi took to social media and tweeted a partnership between the provincial government and Heineken which will see the establishment of what he termed ‘taverns of the future’ in the province.
According to the Red Beret provincial chairperson Nkululeko Dunga, when the premier was called out by the public, he asserted that his anti-drug abuse and alcohol sale position only applies to himself not as a leader, but as an individual.
Dunga further said they are not surprised as it is the nature of ANC leaders to speak in forked tongues and sacrifice moral positions for political expediency.
“As election day is getting closer, Lesufi’s desperation is getting more and more uncontrollable. Just last weekend was charging at police minister Bhakti Cele for refusing to recognise the bogus crime prevention wardens as part of law enforcement.
“The creation of taverns in communities not only promotes alcoholism but also exposes the ANC’s cluelessness in creating jobs and resolving the dire economic situation Gauteng residents find themselves.
“Worth mentioning, the creation of new taverns is consistent with the apartheid spatial planning policy that seeks to further trap black people in state of hopelessness, drunkenness, and pacification,” he expressed.

Dunga emphasised that taverns serve nothing but contribute to high levels of crime in the township and they reject them as there are already too many in the communities.
He added; “The future of society is on access to land, education, and mass industrial development. A caring government will work with the already, existing liquor establishments to enforce regulations that promote safe and responsible consumption.”
